Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER)
First Responder Awareness
|
The goal of this course is to train employees to recognize a hazardous materials situation, take personal protective measures, and initiate an emergency response by notifying the proper authorities. Topics include: understanding hazardous materials, recognition of a hazardous substance in an emergency, and understanding the role of a first responder.

First Responder Operations
|
Employees that are expected to respond to hazardous materials releases in a defensive fashion, and contain the release from a safe distance should attend this course prior to dealing with a release. This 8-hour course will cover: federal regulatory requirements for hazardous materials emergencies, recognizing chemical hazards, personal protective equipment, and defensive spill response methods.

Hazardous Materials Technician
|
Employees who are expected to respond to hazardous material releases to control, contain, and/or clean them up should attend this course. This 24-hour course will cover: hazardous materials information, chemicals fundamentals and toxicology, sources of information, assessment tools, personal protective equipment, emergency response operations, decontamination, medical surveillance, emergency related concerns, tabletop scenarios, and indoor/outdoor drills.

On-scene Incident Commander
|
This 8-hour course provides a general overview of ICS and an opportunity to apply incident management skills to HazMat events. It is designed for Hazardous Materials Technicians to provide a firm foundation of ICS skills as well as enhance the skills of team leaders. Students will practice the application of ICS through tabletop scenarios and a simulation that will include elements such as coordinating with outside responders, community notification, and media relations.

Refresher
|
This 8-hour course satisfies the requirements for providing emergency response and preparedness refresher training to Hazardous Materials Technicians as required in 29 CFR 1910.120(q). This course is designed to keep the Technician certification current and allow response personnel to "brush-up" on elements such as chemistry for response personnel, spill cleanup and decontamination, emergency operations, and related safety concerns.

General Site Worker
|
This 40-hour course will certify employees in the training requirements of the OSHA HAZWOPER Standard 29 CFR 1910.120(e). Employees expected to be general site workers should attend this course prior to responding to a hazardous materials release, working in a hazardous substance removal activity, or conducting operations at treatment, storage, and disposal facilities. This course will cover: introduction to HAZWOPER and the Incident Command System, hazards at the site, sources of information, hazardous materials worker safety, first aid and CPR, material handling, emergency response operations, outdoor practical exercises, and hands-on scenarios.

Materials Training
|
The goal of this course is to certify HazMat employees per the DOT HazMat training requirements found in 49 CFR 172 subpart H. Personnel who directly affect hazardous materials transportation (including hazardous waste) must receive DOT training within 90 days after being hired and recurrent training every three years. This course addresses the required training elements for personnel who transport, handle, or package hazardous materials for shipment. Course topics include hazardous materials classification, use of the HazMat Table, package markings, packaging and labeling requirements, shipping papers, emergency response information, and the newly added security awareness requirements.

|
This course is designed to assist employees in understanding the hazardous waste management requirements of RCRA. This course will cover the definition of hazardous waste, classification of hazardous wastes, labeling, waste storage, transportation and packaging of waste, hazardous waste manifests, and emergency information. This course can be customized to include state-specific regulations.

Storm Water Pollution Prevention Planning
(Industrial Facilities)
|
This course will certify employees in the annual training requirements of a state-specific Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP) for storm water associated with industrial activities, e.g., Section III, A.5(f) of the Texas MSGP. The training will address proper material management and handling practices; spill prevention and clean-up methods, techniques, materials and equipment; proper spill reporting procedures; good housekeeping measures; best management practices; and the goals of the facility-specific Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWP3). The training can also be tailored to include your facility’s SWP3, sampling, and inspection requirements.

Storm Water Pollution Prevention Planning
(Construction)
|
This course will certify employees in the training requirements of a state-specific General Permit for storm water associated with construction activities, e.g., Section IV, B. 2(d) of the Texas General Permit. The training will educate personnel with the provisions of the site’s Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWP3) which must be conducted prior to the initiation of construction. The training can also be tailored to include the specific requirements of your project’s SWP3, implementation, updating, and inspection requirements.

Spill Prevention,
Control and Countermeasure
(SPCC)
|
This course satisfies the requirements for providing annual training to oil-handling personnel under the Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Rule found in 40 CFR 112.7(f). Training topics will include the contents of the facility-specific SPCC Plan, operation and maintenance of equipment to prevent oil discharges, oil discharge procedure protocols, general facility operations as they relate to oil spill prevention, and related rules and regulations.

Environmental
Management System
(EMS) Overview
|
This course provides an overview of the elements and benefits of an EMS and can be tailored to the audience, whether they are executives, plant management, environmental staff, EMS Core Team, or operating personnel. Students will understand the specific role they are responsible for in planning and/or implementing their organization’s EMS. The training can be focused on the organization’s needs and their EMS, such as specifics on environmental aspects identification, design and implementation of operational controls, management of documents and records, or dealing with nonconformity and corrective or preventive action. The course length is customizable too; typically from 2 to 8 hours depending on the content and organization-specific detail requested by the client.

Respiratoy
Protection
|
This course is designed to provide employees with the training requirements of the OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard, 29 CFR 1910.134. This course is required for employees that wear respirators for protection from air contaminated with harmful dusts, fogs, fumes, mists, gases, smokes, sprays, or vapors. Respiratory protection training should be given to the employee prior to wearing a respirator and annually thereafter. This course will cover: regulatory requirements of the OSHA standard, respirator use, maintenance, and storage, limitation and capabilities of respirators, inspection and user-seal checks, and medical signs and symptoms of improper use.

Respiratory Fit Testing
|
Fit testing of respirators is required per 29 CFR 1910.134. Zephyr offers both qualitative and quantitative fit testing.

Confined Space Entry
|
Employees that work in confined spaces are required by the OSHA Standard to be trained prior to entering a confined space and whenever conditions change to present a new hazard in a confined space. This course will cover: confined space definition, key aspects of the OSHA standard, entry team roles and responsibilities, hazard/exposure condition recognition, pre-entry testing and continuous monitoring, entry and personal protective equipment, entry permit, ventilation, communication and evacuation, retrieval and rescue procedures. (This course does not address "rescue" training).

Fire Extinguisher
Safety
|
This course is designed to fulfill the training requirements of OSHA’s Portable Fire Extinguisher Standard, 29 CFR 1910.157. Prior to using fire extinguishers and annually thereafter, employees should be trained in the basic principles of fire extinguisher use and the hazards involved with fighting incipient stage fires. This course will cover: distinguishing fires that can be fought, classification of fire types, hazards of fighting a fire, extinguishing media available, and techniques for extinguishing fires. At onsite training classes, we can offer that each participant will discharge an actual fire extinguisher, if the company provides permits and an acceptable location.

First Aid, CPR, AED
|
These courses are delivered utilizing hands-on practice of skills in accordance with the 2005 Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care. CPR/AED Training is designed to give students the theoretical and practical background necessary to initiate CPR and properly apply and use an AED on an adult patient. First Aid Training is designed to give students the ability to assist injured and ill patients before they can get access to more highly trained care providers.

Hazardous Energy Control - Lock Out / Tag Out
|
This course is designed to meet the training requirements of OSHA's hazard energy control standard, 29 CFR 1910.147. This training will provide the purpose and function of the energy control program to help employees understand and provide the knowledge and skills required for the safe application, usage, and removal of the energy controls are acquired by employees. The training includes the recognition of applicable hazardous energy sources, the type and magnitude of the energy available in the workplace, and the methods and means necessary for energy isolation and control.

Fall Protection
|
This course is designed to meet the training requirements of OSHA’s Fall Protection Standard. Topics include recognition of fall hazards, use and operation of fall protection systems such as guardrail systems, personal fall arrest systems, safety net systems, warning line systems, safety monitoring systems, and controlled access zones, procedures for erecting, maintaining, disassembling, and inspecting fall protection systems; and the major element of the OSHA Fall Protection Standard.

Hazard
Communication
|
This course is designed to meet the training requirements of OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard and is required for each employee who may be "exposed" to hazardous chemicals when working. This training will provide information about working with a hazardous chemical whenever an employee is subjected to a hazardous chemical in the course of employment through any route of entry (inhalation, ingestion, skin contact or absorption, etc.) and includes potential (e.g., accidental or possible) exposure. The training is designed to cover categories of hazards (e.g., flammability, carcinogenicity), and specific chemical hazards can be covered in an onsite course, if requested in advance. Employers must provide chemical-specific information through labels and material safety data sheets.
